Isabella Bertoletti, President

Isabella Bertoletti is an Associate Professor of Italian at FIT. She was educated in Italy and at the Graduate Center in NY. Her publications include scholarly essays on Medieval Italian literature, Italian film, psychoanalysis, the history of the Italian language and Italian feminism, as well as articles for Soma magazine on J. Genet, Hitchcock, Renaissance Fashion, the Olympics and Carlos Gardel.  She has translated works by the Italian political philosopher Paolo Virno  into English (MIT Press) and is a member of International Pen. She has served the UCE on a variety of committees including Executive, Nomination and Election and Grievance and as a delegate to conferences.

Eric Ramirez, Executive Vice President

Eric Ramirez is an Associate Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology SUNY in the Textile/ Surface Design Department where he has worked since 1988. He is also an alumnus of FIT where he holds an AAS and BFA degree. As a faculty member he remains active in several college wide and department committees. He has served as the Assistant Chairperson of the TD/SD for six years and chairperson for three years. With the United College Employees of the Fashion Institute of Technology he has served as secretary and in the spring of 2008 he has been appointed as second VP for faculty. He continues to do design work to remain current in the textile and related areas, as well as pursuing his fine art work. For the past ten years he has taught a study abroad course taking students to Europe, introducing them to a global perspective.  

Paul Clement, VP of Finance/Treasurer

Paul C. Clement is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Paul has over seventeen years of teaching experience as a Professor of Economics and fifteen years at FIT.  He has taught economics and finance at Brooklyn College (CUNY), Long Island University C.W. Post Campus, St. Francis College, and Nassau Community College.  He is presently the Trustee and Vice President of Finance for the United College Employees (UCE) of FIT Scholarship Fund. He is also the Treasurer of the UCE of FIT. Paul has been an active member of the union at FIT. He has served on a variety of committees including, political action and diversity. Paul recently completed a joint Cornell University/NYSUT Leadership Institute Program at Cornell’s Ithaca Campus.

Loretta Volpe, VP of Communications

Loretta Volpe has been a special events and public relations Professor at the State University of New York for over 18 years. She has been involved with several high profile events including, the New York Organ Donor Network, YAI, the Pier Hotel, Celebrity Golf and both the Liberty and Nets basket ball teams.  Overall, she deals with sports and entertainment marketing. As a Professor, Loretta understands the value of market research, analyzing the latest trends and evaluating an ever-changing marketplace, while ensuring the most efficient deployment of her client's budget to achieve their corporate marketing and advertising goals. Loretta is currently the Chairperson of D&IM at FIT. Loretta is also an award-winning advertising executive with 25 years of marketing experience. Loretta is currently the owner of GMLV, an integrated marketing agency based out of New Jersey. Current clients include, Chubb Insurance, Barnes & Noble, ASCAP, Jordache, Zensky Electric and Route 23 Honda.
